Both Edd and Eddy's brother wear a hat. Ed deeply cares about his little sister, Eddy's brother is a Big Brother Bully. Ed is a Gentle Giant, Eddy's brother is an example of Evil Is Bigger. And how is being concerned for each other make them gay? They are best friends after all, it's natural they'd be concerned if one gets into serious danger.
